Well, heck, why not? We’ve surely got quite a wait on our hands, and there are definitely worse ways to pass the time than cruising around Los Santos.

Now, of course, Grand Theft Auto V is a game that needs no introduction. Since the first title’s release way back in 1997, the Grand Theft Auto series has been cementing its proud reputation as gaming’s premiere controversial crime ‘em up. It boldly broke into the 3D sphere with 2001’s Grand Theft Auto III, which pushed the free-roaming concept further than ever. GTA V is the greatest expression of all of this to date: players have a huge, vibrant, endlessly entertaining world to explore.

This is still the case six years after the game’s original release, thanks to Rockstar’s tireless support of Grand Theft Auto Online. New secrets are still being found, new vehicles, weapons, and game modes are still being released, and new cosmetic items are still being proudly sported. The game’s as popular as ever (it hit a new record high when the recent Casino update was added, in fact), which really is a testament to the masterpiece that is Grand Theft Auto V.

That’s the thing, though: masterpiece it may be, but the fact remains that the game is over six years old now. You know what that means, Rockstar: The cries for a Grand Theft Auto VI announcement are reaching fever pitch. Of course, that’s the sort of thing that would attract many a gamer to the next generation of consoles, so it’s no surprise that we haven’t heard anything quite yet, but there can be (almost) no doubt that it’s coming eventually.

There are all sorts of different ways to pass the time until we hear something. We can speculate, we can cry a little, or we could do something a little more proactive. One YouTube channel is hosting an ambitious stream that claims it’s going to drive around the map of GTA V (presumably non-stop) until the “premiere” of the currently-mythical GTA VI:

As Game Rant reports, the video’s description states, “the car travels the GTA 5 map to the premiere of GTA 6, which will probably take place in over 365 days.” All kinds of questions arise here. Is this being done as encouragement? As a protest? Is it likely to last a whole year (give or take)? Who’s actually playing the game?

We don’t know the answers to any of these questions, but we do know one thing: when the stream’s ‘Nightbot’ last reported, they had been driving around for 17 days, 13 hours, 1 minute and 7 seconds, which equated to around 1049 laps around the game’s map. That’s already darn impressive work from 10HoursMovies.
