MatPat and Stephanie Patrick of The Game Theorists recently completed a nine-hour YouTube livestream and were able to raise over $1.3 million on behalf of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

To attract a broad range of viewers, special guest YouTube content creators joined in on the fun, including The Completionist, Dawko, Because Science (Kyle Hill), Markiplier, Miranda Sings (Colleen Ballinger), NateWantstoBattle, TheOdd1sOut, Rosanna Pansino, SomethingElseYT, The Try Guys, and VSauce3.

There was one major difference to this livestream fundraiser thanks to Scott Cawthon, the creator of the popular and terrifying Five Nights At Freddy’s. Cawthon revealed a game that was made especially for the livestream and challenged the gaming community to locate $500,000 in donations hidden inside of the game. When the donations had been found in-game, Cawthon announced that the same amount would be donated to the charity, surprising viewers and streamers.

Other notable donations came from Ocean Spray, which announced a new partnership with St. Jude by contributing $50,000 during the livestream.

Although the livestream has ended, viewers can still watch the replay on YouTube and donate. The funds help ensure that some families don't receive bills from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food. The livestream coincided with Giving Tuesday, which is the annual St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign, which is now in its sixteenth year.

St. Jude has seen several fundraisers through streaming, and one of the most prominent events that occurred recently came when popular Fortnite streamer Ben "DrLupo" Lupo raised nearly $1 million in less than five hours,
