Shows like Auction Hunters and Storage Wars have shown off their amazing finds in abandoned storage units. Now, a pair of YouTubers have made history for themselves with the find of a lifetime, as first reported by Kotaku.

It wasn't easy digging through an abandoned house full of cockroaches and dirt that had been locked for 20 years, but the payday in the end was worth it. Aimee and Korbin, who are behind the channel Cheap Finds Gold Mines, ended up stumbling upon a video game collection worth about $100,000.

The almost 25-minute video showing off the video game loot has already racked up almost 70,000 views. The room contained the incredible forgotten treasure trove full of sealed copies of games, such as The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker, a Resident Evil Chainsaw Controller, and more. They even found tons of Blockbuster branded VHS tapes and stacks of Game Informer magazines.

The treasure-hunting duo was tipped off about the location from a viewer. Unfortunately, they were not prepared for what awaited them inside the house, so they weren't equipped properly to dig through an unsanitary environment. Once they saw what was hidden among the dirt, they decided it was better to dive in than go and change. They even stumbled upon games they had never heard of before.

The payday was split with eight other resellers with each taking home about $20,000. This isn't the first time old video games have netted a huge profit. A sealed copy of Super Mario 64 sold for $1.5 million earlier this summer. Most recently, a rare version of Game and Watch went for $9,000 at a Japanese auction.

Reasons why the house was abandoned and who lived in it were revealed in a second video. A woman who goes by Stephanie said the house belonged to her uncle, who had owned the property since 1965, before she helped him move out in 2019 after he fell ill.

Aimee also explained that the Uncle was experiencing trauma following the loss of someone close to him, so he began to collect things that he loved, which happened to be video games. She wants viewers to appreciate not just how valuable the finds were but how they were able to help this man's collection live on.
