While Ys IX: Monstrum Nox won't be releasing until February 2021 on PS4 (and sometime later on PC and Switch), publisher NIS America is squaring away what the box art will look like for its eventual physical edition. There is already a basic package design that showcases most of the characters, but a new poll is letting fans decide which alternative box art will be included as a reversible cover.

Over on the official Ys website, you'll be able to vote for one of three choices that will end up on the flip side of the game's packaging. I'm partial to the first option, but each has excellent art that would make for a stellar box. You'll be able to vote once per day with the poll running until September 18. Make sure to vote now if you feel strongly about any of them.

There doesn't seem to be a boxed version for the PC port, but that makes sense. The other Ys games didn't get physical releases on PC and simply went directly to Steam. It makes more sense on that platform with its regular sales and better-organized storefront (even if Steam is something of a nightmare).

On console, though, physical is likely the way to go. Both Sony and Microsoft are attempting to push out all-digital consoles, but retaining ownership over the games you own is important. If we completely transition to digital, then a lot of games will end up lost to time behind licensing issues and shuttered networks.
