From colossal dragons to funny skeletons, the variety of card art in Yu-Gi-Oh! is almost endless. Konami prides itself on having various art styles in the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game. In a way, that is what makes Yu-Gi-Oh! so special.

Not only do these cards have stunning artwork to gawk at, but most of the time they contain either an amazing story behind the creation of the card or incredibly interesting lore that will blow your mind. Most Yu-Gi-Oh! card lore is usually self-contained within the game itself, but sometimes Konami goes the extra mile and releases anime-only cards whose lore is expanded even further.

10 Tyler The Great Warrior

Tyler The Great Warrior is not a great card by today's standards, but its story is what makes the Great Warrior shine. Tyler Gressle, after being diagnosed with a rare type of liver cancer, was granted his wish by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a non-profit that grants terminally ill children their wishes, which was to have his own Yu-Gi-Oh! card.

Not only was Make-A-Wish able to make Tyler's dream card a reality, but Tyler was able to make a recovery, and he is now cancer-free and the owner of one of the rarest cards in Yu-Gi-Oh! history.

9 Melffy Staring Contest

Sometimes Yu-Gi-Oh! cards just have the cutest cards in the business. Melffy cards include some of the cutest little creatures that you can think of. Melffy Staring Contest is the cutest in the bunch, for just how big Melffy Rabby is on the card. It just looks too adorable!

Whether it's a bunny, a small puppy, or even a pink and blue pony, Melffy will leave your opponent saying "Awwwww" while you combo into a board with five negates and lethal next turn.

8 Shiba-Warrior Taro

Shiba-Warrior Taro has quite a heartwarming story, as it's based on Yu-Gi-Oh!'s late creator Kazuki Takahashi's very own dog, also named Taro. Takahashi's real-life Shiba Inu also wears the cute green bandana that Shiba-Warrior Taro wears.

Takahashi said that "dogs are a man's best friend," and that belief made him want to immortalize his best friend in a card for the world to share the joy that Taro brought him. Takahashi was always known to be kind at heart. That kindness will forever shine through with Shiba-Warrior Taro.

7 Symbol of Friendship

Most people remember Yugi Muto's famous duel against Seto Kaiba in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. His friend Tea draws the Symbol of Friendship on their hands for Yugi to always remember that his friends will always be there for him. During the decisive turn, Yugi remembers his friends, and draws the final card he needs to beat Kaiba.

Good friends are hard to find, and we're glad Yugi found a great bunch to help him through the toughest of times in the convoluted world of Yu-Gi-Oh!

6 Uni-Song Tuning

One thing that Yu-Gi-Oh! is excellent at is telling deep stories within the confines of the card art. Uni-Song Tuning might seem like a simple and funny-looking card with some zombies singing, but hardcore fans of lore-heavy cards might be able to recognize that the zombies are the card known as Three-Legged Zombies, a vanilla Monster card first printed in the Legendary Collection 3: Yugi's World.

Not only does Uni-Song Tuning show the Three-Legged Zombies having a grand time singing along, but it is another chapter in the cute story of the Three-Legged Zombies hanging out. The joke began thanks to the original card looking like the zombies are pals, hugging each other.

5 Doodlebook - Uh Uh Uh!

What's more wholesome than children's drawings? In the new Doodle Beasts archetype, the poorly drawn dinosaurs that children love to scribble on white walls come to life in card form. Doodle Beasts are very cute, and when their archetype trap card is named Uh Uh Uh!, it just makes your heart melt.

Not every card needs to be a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon or Stardust Dragon. Sometimes, simple designs like children's drawings will stand out even more in a crowd of scale-covered dragons.

4 Yu-Jo Friendship

Nothing is stronger than the bond between two best friends, and with Yu-Jo Friendship, you can extend that bond to your opponent by offering them a handshake. Yu-Gi-Oh! has never been known for silly in-person effects, but Konami decided to do something a bit different with their Jump Promo cards and add a handshake effect to Yu-Jo Friendship.

This card perfectly encapsulates Yugi Muto and Joey Wheeler's friendship and competitive mantra of 'when we're dueling, we are both equals'. A true gentleman's agreement.

3 Exosister Elis and Exosister Stella

exosister elis yugioh card

While their art does not particularly show any lore besides two women dressed in exorcist attire, the fact that if you control both Exosister Elis and Stella you can gain 800 Life Points, has led the community to believe that they are, without a doubt in their minds, girlfriends.

Why else would they be paired together like that? Sure, Exosister Martha triggers her effect if you control Exosister Elis, but doesn't that just mean they are also in a relationship? She doesn't activate if you control Stella, meaning she only has eyes for Martha. Give it up for Yu-Gi-Oh! for being progressive enough to tackle the intricacies of polyamorous relationships.

2 Outstanding Dog Marron

There is not a single dog in card games that is more outstanding than the iconic Marron. This card is so off-putting, yet it brings you a sense of pride. Just looking at how regal Marron looks with his extremely proper name tag with a giant letter M on it. With just a simple glance, you can tell that Marron will never leave your side.

Marron was inspired by the story of Hachiko, a dog who would wait around Shibuya train station for a man who later on passed away. But the dog, loyal as he was, kept on waiting at the station for the man to eventually show up.

1 Potato and Chips

potato and chips yugioh card ocg

Potato and Chips is not the card that the TCG needs, but the card that the TCG deserves. Exclusive to the OCG, Potato and Chips doesn't bring anything new to the table. It's not an effect monster that can negate activated effects, it can't beat over huge Extra Deck monsters, and it's not even a Tuner card that can be used as material for a Synchro summon. Potato and Chips is just that: Potato and Chips.

Just a couple of friends hanging out on the couch, eating snacks, not a single thought behind their eyes. Isn't that what life is all about? Finding that someone who you can spend endless hours doing absolutely nothing with? Finding the Chips to your Potato.
