Hot on the heels of the Xyz Festival, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel's second in-game event has arrived. Instead of forcing you to play with a certain mechanic, though, this time your challenge is to build decks using only specific rarities.

The more you win the in N And R Rarity Festival, the more rewards you can earn. And with lots of Gems and Legacy pack tickets up for grabs, you'll want to know exactly what you're playing for.

What Is The N And R Rarity Festival?

N And R Rarity

The N And R Rarity Festival is a limited-time event that asks you to build a deck containing only cards of the N and R rarities. That means you can't play many of the game's most powerful cards, as they tend to fall within SR or UR territory. Though every mechanic in the game is available, you'll have to be creative to work around the gaps left by usual archetype staples that may be too rare to be played here. In a way, this is Yu-Gi-Oh!'s take on Magic The Gathering's Pauper format, which uses similar restrictions.

This event is only lasting a couple of weeks, starting on March 23, 2022, and ending on April 4, 2022.

The event is using its own banned list that differs from the usual Forbidden and Limited list. Other than SR and UR cards, the following N and R cards are also either completely forbidden or limited from the festival:

How To Get Rewards In The N And R Rarity Festival

Medal Obtained

To earn rewards in the N And R Rarity Festival, you'll need to play in the special event through the in-game Duel menu. On the right half of the screen there will be a button to go to the festival, and from there you can queue up to take part.

Much like the Xyz Festival before it, the N And R Rarity Festival tracks its rewards through medals. Each duel you complete will earn you a number of medals, with winning giving you significantly more than if you lose. While you'll still earn medals for losing, you won't earn medals for conceding; if you surrender, you're also forfeiting any medals you would've earned in the event.

During the Xyz Festival, players would often run decks that could kill themselves in a single turn in order to quickly grind the medals through losing as many games as possible. This wasn't particularly fun, though, and so Konami drastically increased the number of medals winning would earn you during the Xyz Festival to try and encourage players to actually play fair. This amount has carried over to the N And R Rarity Festival, with each win netting you 500 medals, and each loss only 50 medals.

Another big change from the Xyz Festival is that the rewards are the same for both loaner and constructed decks. Whether you use one of the three decks supplied to you, or bring your own, you'll be earning the same amount of medals for each game.

As always, remember that duelling in the festival also counts towards your missions and Duel Pass progress; you'll be gaining lots more rewards than just the ones listed here.

Every Reward In The N And R Rarity Festival

NREvent

Compared to the Xyz Festival, the N And R Rarity Festival has less variety in its prizes. However, it also doesn't drop off quite as quickly in the quality of those rewards: to get every gem, you only need to win 20 matches. After that, you'll instead by earning Legacy Pack Tickets, which include two random cards.

Sadly, there are no event-exclusive packs for the N And R Rarity Festival.
