Weaving Tides, a Zelda-inspired game about weaving massive tapestries using manta-like carpet dragons, just got officially announced for the Nintendo Switch and PC.

Yesterday we got to see a whole bunch of wholesome games thanks to Wholesome Direct, an online showcase of the least violent and most charming games coming soon. One of the more interesting titles to be introduced was Vienna-based Follow the Feathers with Weaving Tides, a game about stitching together a broken world.

You play as Tass, a regular human that flies a carpet dragon. What’s a carpet dragon? It’s like if a magic carpet had a face with fangs in it. They move like manta rays through Weaving Tides’ textile world, stitching back together holes in a frayed landscape.

The carpet dragon Tass flies is called a “weaver,” and they use their stitching powers to defeat enemies. You can upgrade those powers using "mystic embroideries” that enhance any of the three weavers’ abilities. Explore “Zelda-like dungeons” to discover the secrets of this strange world and figure out how to save it.

Weaving Tidessuccessful Kickstarter means that we’re going to get a full release for both the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. You can download a free demo (or “prologue,” as Weaving Tides likes to call it) now to get a taste of what you’ll be in for. The full game releases sometime later in 2020.
